Miora d.o.o. introduced itself at the Second International Congress of Ecology, Health, Work and Sport, held between 25 and 28 June 2008 in Banja Luka, with two scientific papers on ecology.
Dr. Željo Zovko, Miora d.o.o.’s expert on ecology, was the lecturer.
The first lecture called Monitoring System and Particularly Endangered Areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held as part of the main plenary lecture at the Bosnia Hotel.
The second lecture called Relationships and Impact of Public Procurement – Tenders and Quality of Services – Solutions Offered on People’s Health and the Environment was held as part of the presentation of papers at the Faculty of Science.
In addition to Dr Zovko, the co-authors of these papers are Nedeljko Tešić and Radan Spasojević.
Since it was established Miora d.o.o. has been involved in environmental protection, education on the importance of environmental protection, management of all types of waste, and enhancement of existing technologies aimed at rationalising waste production.
In cooperation with Ph.D. Željom Zovkom, one of the most acknowledged European scientists and innovators in the field of ecology, dozens of projects have been executed throughout European Union countries, etc., primarily in the Federal Republic of Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Turkey, African countries, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Sweden.
Back in 1997, Miora d.o.o., along with the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Department of Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics, Professor Helmut Meißner i Assistant Lecturer Z. Zovko, introduced the DAAD Project of the Government of Germany in Banja Luka. After successfully executing this project, Miora prepared the ground for the Tempus Project at Banja Luka University. The process of harmonising the curricula and degree validation, and harmonising the ecological standards and criteria of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union, was initiated for the first time through this EU project (Tuzla University, Banja Luka University, and Mostar University).
In the course of 1999, Miora organised and prepared a partnership between the cities of Kaiserslautern in Germany and Banja Luka.
Miora prepared the entire programme for the first visit of the city of Kaiserslautern to Banja Luka, headed by the Kaiserslautern Mayor and city administration head, Bernhard J. Deubig, and Professor H. Meißner and Senior Lecturer Z. Zovko of the University of Kaiserslautern.
A student exchange project was also launched that year in order to standardise teaching and to transfer new technologies developed in the European Union, which led to connecting Banja Luka University with other European Union universities.
And finally, a partnership was established between the cities of Banja Luka and Kaiserslautern.
Miora d.o.o. was the first to put the issue of landfills on the agenda of the entities and BiH in post-war BiH. Growing landfills in the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BIH were analysed. A dialogue was launched with associations for ecology and local communities, and the RS Government was offered a solution or a solution concept for managing solid and industrial waste in the way it was managed in developed countries.
Parts of this study were later used for solving the Banja Luka Landfill and Drina river basin problems.
Miora d.o.o. initiated solving the problems of air, water and soil pollution in a number of locations in BiH.
The speciality of Miora d.o.o. is to propose and implement, together with experts and institutions from the European Union, the optimal solutions for air, water and soil pollution problems, in accordance with the EU norms and legislation.
Miora d.o.o.’s activities are aimed at stopping the destruction of living space and at regulating our environment in order to save it for generations to come.
